Advanced Heart Transplant & Heart Failure Support Group
The HAVE A HEART FOUNDATION, Heart Support Group was created by heart transplant recipients as a way to help each other through all the challenges of living with a heart transplant. This support group is the only group in the Chicago area that is organized by transplant recipients exclusively for the benefit of heart transplant and advanced heart failure patients. We serve heart transplant recipients and advanced heart failure patients in the upper Midwest, Illinois and lower Wisconsin, with the overwhelming amount of our services being currently provided to the people of the Chicago metropolitan area.
Support Group Meeting
We have a meeting every month for heart transplant recipients, advanced heart failure patients and their families. If you or a family member received a heart transplant, or you are an advanced heart failure patient and have questions about a transplant, we invite you to come to a support group luncheon meeting. We invite guest speakers to these meetings to educate members about the transplant journey. Speakers in the past have included cardiologists, psychologists and other medical professionals, the Gift of Hope, plus representatives from insurance and drug companies.
The Support Group meetings are also a wonderful opportunity to share any concerns or questions with other heart transplant recipients. We have all been through the transplant experience, and we understand what you are going through. At each meeting members listen, ask questions, and learn from each other. We are here to encourage you and help you in any way that we can. We want to give hope to future transplant recipients on a waiting list. We invite you to join us at the next support group meeting.
The Support Group meetings are at 1:00 p.m. and locations are as follows:
- 3rd Sunday of Odd Numbered Months - Alexian Brothers Hospital, Elk Grove Village, IL
There is no Support Group meeting in September but we have the Annual Picnic instead.
